reconnect to nature

Natural table – Edible country
Uncomplicated food with ingredients you can find in nature – just around the corner

Well – This is what we have been doing for many years at Urnatur already. What a surprise to find out about Visit Swedens genius project about the edible country – with menus created by four Swedish Michelin-starred chefs – ready to be used by anyone who wants, and with magic pictures made by our German friends Susann and Yannik who make a stunning and praised food blog ”Krautkopf” (check it out!) and who also took the pictures here below at Urnatur about two years ago…

Here at Urnatur you can find all the herbs, berries, mushrooms other ingredients you need – and the fireplace. If you are lucky you can even catch some fish at lake Visjö – close to our outdoor kitchen. If not you can buy it from us. If you want to dine at a very special place you can sit down at our komorebi – forest table in the woods  built by another German friend: florist Gabriele Kubo.
We can tell you where to look for the nettles, ground elder, wild garlic and other herbs. Of course there is no guarantee – it always depends on weather and season.

”‘The Edible Country’ is an initiative from Visit Sweden, whose mission is to promote Sweden as a destination and as a brand. The menu is co-created by four of Sweden’s top chefs Titti Qvarnström, Niklas Ekstedt, Anton Bjuhr and Jacob Holmström, who have composed the dishes with inspiration from Sweden’s varied landscapes and shifting seasons.

Natural and healthy food can be just as tasty and easy to make as anything else. And cooking it in nature can also give you the positive health effects that a close-to-nature lifestyle comes with. That’s why we’ve turned Sweden into the world’s largest gourmet restaurant. Because here, great healthy food is just around the corner – in our nature…”
